The eastbound lane of Summit Street between DePeyster and Vine will be closed today.

Construction is for emergency repair of the water main line and utility repairs, said Sheri Chestnutwood, administrative assistant to Kent’s service director Eugene Roberts. The road will be reopened later Thursday when repair is complete.

Although there are flaggers, road closed and detour signs and traffic will be maintained in the westbound lane, delays should be expected.

To avoid delays, it is recommended to find an alternate route or plan additional travel time.

Chestnutwood said this part of the street will be closed again between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Friday to do pavement repairs but will be construction-free during the day.
