Kent State’s philanthropic group, KSU Flash-A-Thon, will host the first annual Flash-A-Thon April 6 in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Registration for the event ends March 21 at midnight.

The 12-hour dance marathon will benefit the Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancers and Blood Disorders at Akron Children’s Hospital, said co-presidents of the event Jackie Cornell and Chrissie Seo, both senior integrated life sciences majors.

“There are kids in our community that are going through something like this, and they need someone to stand behind them,” Cornell said.

The group has set a $15,000 goal for the event. They ask that each dancer raise at least $40 before the event in addition to a $10 registration fee, which covers the cost of an event t-shirt as well as food and refreshments.

“The more money we pore into [the dance marathon], the more life we gain,” Seo said.
