The School of Communication Studies will introduce its first Global Communications Issues Forum, “Fracking: Promise or Peril” Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the KIVA.

The forum will feature a four-person panel, which will include Dimiter Kenarov, a Pulitzer Center journalist who specializes in natural gas extraction. Kenarov’s project of natural gas extraction called hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” will be discussed.

The panel will also include Kent State geology professors Yoram Eckstein and Donald Palmer; Bob Downing, an Akron Beacon Journal reporter, will be the fourth panelist. The panel plans to discuss the promises and dangers of fracking on a global scale.

The event is free and open to the public.
