Senior Associate Provost Timothy Chandler will not leave Kent State for San Jose State after the provost job he was up for was filled by another finalist.

As announced in November, Dr. Chandler was in the running for the provost position at San Jose State, but according to a San Jose State press release from December, San Jose President Mohammad Qayoumi appointed Dr. Ellen Junn of California State University, Fresno instead.

Chandler said in an email he is “still here and currently (has) no plans to leave KSU.”

Chandler also said he thinks filling the departing Provost Robert Frank’s position is “very important to everyone at KSU” and said the finalists to fill the open provost’s position will visit campus at the end of January.

Daniel Mahony, dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Services and chair of the committee looking for a new provost, said in an email the group is not ready to announce the finalists yet but will do so in the next week.
