Update

The plea date for Antonino G. Bucca and Drew H. Patenaude is set for Oct. 28 at 9:30 a.m. in the Portage County Court of Common Pleas.

The pretrial of two former students charged in April with one count each of forgery, identity fraud and telecommunications fraud has been postponed with a defense motion for continuance.

The defendants, Antonio G. Bucca, 21, and Drew H. Patenaude, 21, will appear for a plea date later this month or in early November at the Portage County Common Pleas Court in Ravenna, said Linda Rumsey of the Portage County Common Pleas Court. The defendants’ date is yet to be set.

Bucca and Patenaude were charged in March after United States Customs and Border Protection agents found 45 pairs of fake IDs inside an electronic device being shipped to the defendants from China.

Kent police said in April they thought Bucca and Patenaude intended to distribute the fake IDs to university students.

A maximum sentence of three years in prison could be served if the defendants are convicted on all three charges.
