webstory/brief: SSDP conference preview

Jessica Roblin

Marijuana legalization and the war on drugs will be discussed at a Students for Sensible Drug Policy conference on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the student center.

Keynote speakers – including State Representative Kenny Yuko and Law Enforcement Against Prohibition member Howard Rahtz – will address issues surrounding young people and reducing the harm of drugs.

The organization is a network of students concentrating on drug abuse and its effects on communities and society. The group encourages the young to get involved politically to reach a safer future, but never takes sides on whether drugs are right or wrong to use. SSDP aims to create an open discussion.

Here is Saturday’s schedule:

10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. : Kenny Yuko’s keynote address

10:45 a.m. to noon : speakers on “Know Your Rights” and “Harm Reduction”
