CHEERS TO

• Cheers to the Kent State men’s basketball team for its dominating wins last week over Mid-American Conference leaders Buffalo and Akron. Now let’s keep the winning trend going.

• Cheers to former Kent State athletes Daniel Muir (Colts) and Usama Young (Saints), whose teams advanced to the Super Bowl after winning in Sunday’s league championship games. We wish both of them luck in the Super Bowl.

• Cheers to President Barack Obama for making Northeast Ohio a stop on his “White House to Main Street Tour”. The area has seen a lot of economic hardship, and it’s good to see Obama recognize that.

JEERS TO

• Jeers to Wal-mart for eliminating more than 11,000 jobs by outsourcing in-store product demonstrations to an outside marketing company. It’s never good to see people losing jobs in this type of economy.

• Jeers to the string of vehicle thefts on campus since last November. It’d be nice if we could be sure our cars were safe on campus.

• Jeers to the immense amount of paperwork required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. We can use any financial aid we can get, and the confusing FAFSA paperwork makes it difficult.
