Faculty teaching awards unveiled today

The Alumni Association announced this year’s winners of the Distinguished Teaching and Outstanding Teaching awards today.

Only tenure-track faculty members are eligible for the Distinguished Teaching Award. Faculty members who have taught at Kent State for five years without being part of the tenure track can receive the Outstanding Teaching Award.

2009 Distinguished Teaching Award recipients:

&bull Walter Davis, associate professor for teaching, learning and curriculum studies in the College of Education, Health and Human Services

&bull Wayne Gorder, professor of music in the College of the Arts

&bull Douglas Kline, professor of biological sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences

2009 Outstanding Teaching Award recipients:

&bull Irene Axiotis, assistant professor of health sciences in the College of Education, Health and Human Services

&bull Elizabeth Howard, associate professor of English in the College of Arts and Sciences

&bull Margaret Leslie, assistant professor of chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences
