WATCH:Police standoff in Ravenna

The standoff between former Ravenna police chief Michael Swartout and police continues this afternoon at his Ravenna Township home on Lakewood Road.

Police are still outside the house.

Portage County Sheriff Duane Kaley said officers lost contact with Swartout for a couple hours this afternoon. Police are now again in contact and negotiating with him.

Swartout aledgedly fired shots at his adult son last night after an argument and subsequently barricaded himself in his home. The son escaped earlier today.
