The Brunch Bunch will hold its annual charity auction from 8 a.m. to noon Thanksgiving to serve those in need in Portage County.

Local retailers, organizations and community members donated items and services that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Coffee, cider and doughnuts will be provided at the fundraiser, which will take place at the American Legion Post 496 at 1945 Mogadore Rd. in Kent.

Proceeds will benefit Kent Social Services Hot Meals, Center of Hope, Coleman Adult Day Services and Lord’s Pantry.

The Brunch Bunch, formerly known as the Thanksgiving Coffee Club, originated in 1968 when a group of three men wanted to do something positive for the community and escape the kitchen while their wives prepared Thanksgiving dinner. Since then, the expanded group has raised more than $275,000.
