An explosion in Girard, Ohio destroyed two homes on Washington Street around 6:00 p.m. Girard is located north of Youngstown.

Residents felt their homes shake and came out to survey the damage. Debris from one house was thrown across the neighborhood, igniting the house next door. Investigators are on the scene and will attempt to determine the cause of the explosion.
