David Creamer, senior vice president for administration, is one of two finalists being considered for a position at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Creamer said the firm conducting the candidate search for Miami University contacted him about the position for vice president for finance and business services.

Creamer said the Miami position shares similar responsibilities with his current one, except it includes overseeing human resources, the residence halls and government relations. The Miami position does not include overseeing institutional research, which currently falls under his responsibility at Kent State.

According to a Miami University press release, the other candidate is Natalie “Nikki” Krawitz, vice president for finance and administration at the University of Missouri System.

Creamer said he will travel to Miami University Jan. 28 and 29 for another visit before the university likely makes a decision next month.

“There is no firm date for a decision, but I expect that something will be decided before the end of February,” he wrote in an e-mail.

Even so, Creamer said because he has not been offered the position yet, he has not made any decisions about leaving Kent State. If he does not receive the position offer, Creamer said he will remain at Kent State.

At Kent State, Creamer oversees the university budget, facilities, building planning and construction, bursar and cash and investment management among other responsibilities. Creamer has held a role as vice president at Kent State since 1998.

Crain’s Cleveland Business magazine awarded Creamer the 2007 Chief Financial Officer of the year award in October for the non-profit education sector, recognizing him as one of the region’s top money managers.
