Provost names Arts and Sciences dean

Staff report

Provost Robert Frank announced this morning that Timothy S. Moerland, chair of Florida State’s department of biological sciences, will become the College of Arts and Sciences dean.

Moerland will replace interim dean Jerry Feezel. Since 2004, the university has administered four searches to fill the dean position for the College of Arts and Sciences, which is the university’s largest college with more than 6,700 students.

Moerland visited Kent State in October to meet with students and university officials. During his visit, he said he likes working with people and hopes to build something at Kent State if selected as dean.

He also said his favorite thing about Kent State was its energy.

“There’s a real sense of potential, and I want to turn that potential into a really good opportunity,” Moerland said.
