GTB Entertainment will hold its first showcase of the semester tonight, featuring the musical talents of three Kent bands.

GTB Entertainment Showcase

Where? The Green Room

When? Tonight, 8 p.m.

How much? $5 for 18- to 20-years-old $3 for 21 and older

The show will open with David Ullman, a folk rock singer/songwriter. Following him will be The Speedbumps, and closing the show will be Nate X 10. Each band is a member of the GTB Entertainment label, which is an indie label and promotional agency run by Kent State students.

“We try to make Kent aware of the talent that there is,” said director of publicity Craig Rosenthal, a junior theatre major. “The purpose of the class is to teach students about the music industry.”

Rosenthal added that the Record Promotion class is getting hands-on experience through instructor Gene Shelton, who has about two decades of experience in the music industry.

Rosenthal said he hopes the showcase will bring awareness of the class to Kent State students so the class enrollment will be bigger next semester.

“Students will look at this class and see that their future might lie in the music industry,” he said. “This showcase might get some more groups to be promoted through us. We are always accepting any type of genre.”
