A tailgate barbecue, sponsored by the United Way of Portage County, will take place before the Homecoming game tomorrow to help raise money for the organization.

Steve Keilber, president of the United Way of Portage County, said Kent State is one of its biggest supporters.

“Kent State is very committed to the community and very committed to United Way,” Keilber said. “We are glad they are a part of what we are doing.”

The United Way is a non-profit organization that connects families and individuals in Portage County with community resources and volunteer opportunities.

Kent State’s goal for 2007 is to raise $120,000 to help support the United Way.

Two ticket options are available for the event. A $25 ticket includes admission to the football game, food, a $5 donation to the United Way and a chance to win two tickets to view the game from the loge or the grand prize of two tickets to the Kent vs. Ohio State game.

Tickets for the tailgate and barbecue are $15. Game admission is not included.
