Calling all reserves

The Kent State men’s basketball team’s new-look bench has been productive. In fact, the reserves are accounting for just over half the team’s points over the last seven games. Of course, three of the reserves – Haminn Quaintance, Omni Smith and Armon Gates – were starters before Christian reshuffled the team’s starting lineup after the loss at Akron. The new bench has accounted for 203 points, 51 percent of the team’s scoring. During the same stretch, opponents’ benches have scored 84 points. Although Sunday’s blowout loss at Western Michigan ended the Flashes’ six-game winning streak, their bench still outscored the Broncos, 26-20.
