Strickland wins governor, Blackwell concedes election

Democrat Ted Stickland will be the next governor of Ohio, according to the Associated Press.

Republican candidate Kenneth Blackwell conceded the election to Strickland earlier this evening. The AP had called Strickland the winner even before 8 p.m.

The AP is also projecting Democrat Sherrod Brown defeating incumbant Republican Sen. Mike DeWine.

According to the Ohio Secretary of State Web site, fewer than 6 percent of precincts are reporting at this time.
