Shirt sale raises money for AIDS

A table will be in the Student Center today for students wishing to order a T-shirt for World AIDS Day. World AIDS Day is December 1, and events will be occurring for the week starting November 27.

The shirts are available in black or white, sizes small to 3X.

The front features a red ribbon, the symbol of HIV, along with the slogan for this year: “Ignorance puts lives at risk. YOU. ME. US.”

The back says, “Spread action, not AIDS,” and has a research-based list of ways to reduce the risk of getting HIV.

The shirts cost $10, or $8 with a donation to Violet’s Cupboard, an AIDS service agency in Akron. Suggested donations include toiletries, clothing and other items that cannot be purchased with food stamps, said Sarah Hallsky, the campus coordinator of World AIDS Day.

Payment must be made up front by cash or check. Shirts will be available for pick-up starting November 27 in the Student Center. A limited number of shirts will also be on sale at that time.

Those who purchase shirts are asked to wear them Friday, Dec. 1.

Those interested in purchasing shirts can also call Hallsky at (330) 672-8276 to order.
