Open Mic Night will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. today in the Music Listening Center on the second floor of the Student Center.

The event is to replace Poetry Slam, which was also sponsored by Kent Student Center Programming.

Participants in the past have played guitars, read poetry, harmonized and rapped.

Due to low attendance at Poetry Slam during the past couple years, KSC Programming wants to integrate poetry readings with different forms of entertainment.

Rachael Shansky, event supervisor for KSC Programming, promotes creativity.

“If you have a song that you’ve been playing since third grade that you can play on the guitar, bring it,” she said.
