Residence hall students will have to be a bit more cautious if they’re planning to drink, smuggle or handle alcohol in the rooms.

Starting today, if a student is caught violating the Department of Residence Service’s alcohol policy, the infraction won’t go unnoticed back home.

According to an e-mail written by Betsy Joseph, director of the Department of Residence Services, parents or guardians of students under the age 21 will be notified if students are found in violation of the alcohol policy.

The notification won’t specify the exact kind of violation, so, Joseph said, students are encouraged to speak with their parents or guardians about the incident.

Joseph said the notification is supplemental to any other disciplinary action.
