Flashes to host Butler in BracketBusters

The Kent State men’s basketball team is slated to host Butler for the annual BracketBusters event presented by eBay.

The games will be held Feb. 17 through Feb. 19 and will be televised nationally on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN360. The official times, dates and stations will be announced Tuesday.

The event is held every year for successful teams that have made or may make NCAA Tournament appearances. It is held three weeks before Selection Sunday, and the matchups are selected by ESPN and the conferences.

The Flashes (14-6, 8-1 MAC) have never matched up against the Bulldogs, but the teams both gained national attention with NCAA tournament appearances. The Bulldogs made a run to the Sweet 16 in 2003, one year after the Flashes made it to the Elite Eight.

Butler will be playing in the event for the first time. With a 12-8 overall record and a 5-3 record in the Horizon League, Butler is No. 2 in the league behind UW-Milwaukee.
