History of company: Knepp, who is from Hudson, is a 1999 Kent State graduate who wanted to open his store in Kent because he was familiar with the food scene.

“I wanted students to have a quick, healthy alternative to the fast food in town,” Knepp said.

Menu: Knepp said Pulp Passion is the most popular smoothie. Or, for those who need an energy boost, the Mango Bomb is a blend of mangos, peaches, orange sherbet and Red Bull. Each smoothie comes with the option of adding one “Pulp Enhancer” at no additional cost. Fat burners, libido enhancers and hangover relief are just a few of the options. PULP also serves plain fruit juice, salads, wraps and soups.

Student Opinions: Kyle-Anne Fausel, senior exploratory major, said she goes to PULP not only for the drinks, but for the atmosphere and service.

“The atmosphere is kind of new age and really modern,” Fausel said. “And the employees are really great. It’s always fun to be there.”

PULP also has a drive-thru window and free wireless Internet access.
