Spring break is a long seven months away and without tanning, those gorgeous summer tans will fade quickly.

The Kent area offers plenty of options to solve that problem.

Tan Spa

Located at the corner of Summit Street and Water Street, Tan Spa is one of Kent’s hottest tanning salons.

Tan Spa has 37 beds, including standard beds, ultra beds, extreme beds and super extreme beds.

Tan Spa offers several different specials for each type of bed. A standard single session is $4.50, six sessions are $18 and 12 sessions are $25.

The salon also has stand-up beds and mystic tanning.

Throughout the year, Tan Spa runs coupons for sessions in the Daily Kent Stater.

Tan Spa is conveniently located next to Nails to Bragg About, which is a full-service nail salon.

Tan Spa is open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. until 10 p.m Sunday.

Darque Zone

Darque Zone is one of Kent’s other popular tanning salons.

The salon has several types of beds, such as the matrix bed, described as the “ultimate in high pressure tanning” by www.darquezone.com. Darque Zone also has mystic tanning and stand-up beds.

Darque Zone also offers point packages for frequent customers. Customers can purchase a point package and points are deducted from each visit.

Customers are also able to share packages with family and friends.

From Sept. 1 through Dec. 31, Darque Zone will have an unlimited package for $40.

Darque Zone is located at 1720 E. Main St. and is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m Sunday.

Cuttin’ Loose

Cuttin’ Loose is a hair, nail and tanning salon.

If harmful UV rays aren’t appealing, try Cuttin’ Loose’s Magic Tanning. Magic Tanning is a spray tanner that allows customers to skips the beds. The first two visits are $25 and one more after that is $16. Six sessions are $72 and 10 are $110.

Cuttin’ Loose is on 330 E. Main St.

Sunsations

Sunsations is another one of Kent’s tanning salons that offers more than just tanning.

“The owner (of Sunsations) is also a dentist,” said Roberta Marinelli, employee at Sunsations and a senior interpersonal communications major.

Sunsations offers teeth bleaching and spray tanning as well as tanning. Teeth bleaching at Sunsations costs $99.

Sunsations has unique pricing and packages in comparison to other area salons.

“We’re the only salon in Kent that prices by minutes,” Marinelli said.

Sunsations has four different types of beds: the “midday” or standard bed; the “beach” bed, which is slightly stronger than the midday bed; the “tropical” or stand-up bed, which includes bronzing; and the “equator” bed, the strongest.
