Kent State student Melanie Scheinberg was found dead today in suite 3H of Engleman Hall. The room was closed all day.

A female student was found dead this morning in Engleman Hall, according to the Portage County Coroner’s Office.

Melanie Scheinberg was found around 10 a.m. in her third-story room after an apparent suicide, said Scott Rainone, assistant director of University Media Relations.

Scheinberg, 20, was a junior early childhood education major from Monroeville, Pa.

Portage County Coroner Roger Marcial is currently investigating the specific cause of death, said Thomas Decker, chief investigator of the Coroner’s Office.
