The Kent State volleyball team will look to rebound at the Thunder Invitational this weekend after going winless at last weekend’s Fullerton Classic.

The Flashes’ most recent game against William & Mary last Saturday ended in a loss after a five-set match. The team will look for victories against the likes of Eastern Kentucky, Southern Illinois, and Marshall.

The Flashes open play Friday against Eastern Kentucky, before playing their other two matches on Saturday. Eastern Kentucky enters the meet with the best record (4-3) among the four teams playing this weekend, but they are also coming off three consecutive losses. Southern Illinois enters with a 3-5 record, while the Marshall Thundering Herd, the host of the invitational, has a 2-7 record.

Despite the Flashes having just one win to show for their efforts this season, the squad’s play has been far from lackluster. The team scored more than 60 points in each of the previous two games.

The last game against William & Mary saw the Flashes record their highest dig total in nearly a decade after posting 104 digs in five sets. Bianca Cifaldi was named to the all-tournament team in the Fullerton Classic, after posting 15 digs over the three games in California.

The Flashes’ opening contest against Eastern Kentucky begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Play continues into Saturday when Kent State faces Southern Illinois at 10:30 a.m. and Marshall at 7:30 p.m.
