The Kent State track and field team will compete in the SPIRE NCAA DI Indoor Track Invitational in Geneva, Ohio, this weekend. The Flashes will face very strong competition in this meet, with about 20 schools competing.

Coach Bill Lawson is looking at this unscored meet as a warm-up for the MAC Championships in two weeks.

“There’s better quality competition against schools we don’t normally compete against,” Lawson said. “It’s a dry run of the MAC Championships. It’s our last good look at the team before the MAC championship.”

Coach Lawson said he wants his team to perform with the same level of intensity they have been performing with recently. He also said that one of their goals is to not have anyone get injured so close to the conference championships.

The SPIRE NCAA DI Indoor Track Invitational will take place with preliminaries on Friday and the finals on Saturday.
