Laziza, Taco Tonto’s and Wild Goats Café

A three-way tie for first place proves that Kent is full of vegetarian and vegan options.

From Laziza’s homemade hummus, falafel, baba ghanoush and more than nine salads and entrees like ghallaya to Wild Goats’ breakfast options like the peanut butter and banana French toast, there’s something for everyone.

Taco Tonto’s has classic burritos, tacos, tostadas, taco salads and chips with salsa and guacamole — all made by hand.

No matter what style of cuisine you’re in the mood for, you can find it in downtown Kent.

Laroush

Laroush continues to please its visitors by offering a selection of healthy and authentic ethnic food since its opening in 2012. The menu consists of classic sides including pita wedges, stuffed grape leaves and spinach-feta pies.

Visitors can also enjoy wraps, salads and platters with varieties including a vegetable platter — lentils and rice topped with caramelized onion, sautéed mixed peppers, mushrooms and baked carrots plus fattoush salad and hummus.

Owner Robert Stone creates all of the food daily to give the freshest and most natural food possible.

“We are vegan-friendly,” Stone said. “There are a lot of options [for vegetarians and vegans] and we’re all about being fresh — I make the hummus daily.”

Troy Grille

Similar to the “choose want you want” system offered at Chipotle, this family-owned restaurant brings a Turkish twist to fresh food. With a variety of 16 different fresh toppings cut daily, Troy Grille provides an awesome selection.

Since August 2013, owner Gokmen “G” Kalkavan has been creating simple, authentic dishes for the people of Kent. With an easy-to-follow menu, it’s hard to choose from the assortment of soups, wraps, falafel and more, not to mention delicious dessert options, including baklava and rice pudding.

“We’re different,” Kalkavan said. “All of our meals are healthy, homemade and totally fresh and totally delicious.”
